24 hours.

Okay, so I thought I'd try something a little different today.  I'm going to cut out a 24 hour block (yesterday at 4:30-today at 4:30) and tell you what happened. Just to give you a little idea.  Don't worry, I tried to leave out most of the boring parts :)   Here goes...

Yesterday 4:30:  walking to the bus depot with friends to purchase bus tickets for our trip to Belize for Semana Santa.

6:15pm:  Still at the bus depot.  Yep, almost 2 hours later.  It took that long because the bus we wanted to take was sold out.  And then for the return trip, there are apparently zero buses driving on the Friday, Saturday, or Sunday of Easter Week.  So we had to figure out how we were going to get back.  I should mention that the entire time we were in said bus depot, we were accompanied by the security gaurd, holding a large rifle that might be mistaken for a pogo stick.  But tickets were purchased--after much turmoil, discussion, and drama.  Belize, here we come!

6:40pm:  Finally make it home.  Wondering why its pitch black on my street.  Only to walk in my house and discover its also pitch black in my house.  That's because the power is out.  That happens here.  For no reason at all.  Spent the next 20 minutes in darkness.  Well, I did have a candle.

7pm ish:  Dinner of beans and eggs.

8pm: incredibly encouraging skype date with a friend.

9:30pm:  Finish up calculating grades for progress reports, as I have to enter them in at school at some point (in the 30 or so minutes of planning time that I actually have... okay, maybe a little more.  But not much).  And then laid out all the things I needed for school the next day-- including camera.

10:45ish:  Bed.  Early, I know.  But it was actually a little past my bedtime.

6am: Alarm goes off.  Press snooze.

6:10: shower and start getting ready.

6:45:  (about 7 minutes before I'm supposed to leave)  Freak accident when putting my contacts in.  Somehow the contact breaks into two pieces in my eye.  Incredibly painful, can't see, and really tricky to get two separate pieces out of my eye.  Irritate my eye even more after messing with it in such a panic.   Running late and can't get the contacts out of my eye.

6:58: (about 3 minutes after I was supposed to leave)  I race out the door.  Wet hair.  Mismatched.  And with only one contact in my eye.  I got the pieces out, but didn't have time to put a new one in the other eye.  Will have to do that at school.  Keep in mind, I'm practically blind without my contacts.  Speed walking and dizzy from the imbalance of perfect vision in one eye and practically blind in the other.   Close my contact-less eye when crossing the street to avoid getting run over from lack of proper depth perception.  Also, in the rush I succeeded in leaving behind everything that I had laid out the night before...camera and all.

7:05:  make it to the bus on time.  Still can't see and my eye is red.   Off to school!

8:00:  Word Parade!  Kids were supposed to sign up to participate days in advance.  But wouldn't you know?  Multiple come running up to me as we are getting organized trying to hand me the Q5 to participate.  Didn't have my camera so no pictures, sadly.   Another teacher took some for me though.  Favorite from my class?  A kid that dressed as a crab and proceeded to crab walk for the entire parade.

8:30:  I win the award for best dressed teacher.

10:00:  My formal observation.  Principal comes in my class to observe a lesson.

I'll skip the rest of school.  Nothing too eventful.

3:00:  Kids leave.  On the way out I have to stop and help multiple kids who have stuff spilling out of their backpacks, dropping things, and are falling on the ground.   Rush to the computer lab to enter grades.

3:45:  Finish entering grades just as the teacher bus pulls up to take us home.

4:00:  Walking home.  Get  long and obvious stares/ creepy smiles/ audible noises  from 2 men driving a funeral car.

4:30ish:  Writing this post.  Getting ready for Spanish class.  Just received a text from Spanish teacher asking to start class 15 minutes later.

And there you go.  24 hours.
