The weekend finished out well yesterday. A group of teachers and I went into town to go shopping for a few things. We started out looking at some pacas (spelling, I have no idea). In the market it looks like a giant clothing yard sale. Literally piles and piles of clothes. There are paca stores too that aren't quite as overwhelming. But yesterday it was crazy. All kinds of used clothes for cheap. Its one of those luck of the draw kinds of things-- I've heard stories about amazing finds. I didn't get anything yesterday though.

Back to school today. No Labor Day holiday for us. Things went well though. Tomorrow I start tutoring a first grader. Two times a week, 30 minutes each.

I stayed after school again today and it started down pouring. We took the chicken bus home, and it went on a little detour, probably because something was wrong with the main road. The back roads we went on were completely flooded. It was kind of scary. Here, there is no drainage and they can't really handle the amount of rain we've been getting in certain areas. In some of the more rural areas there have been mudslides and blocked roads. We are fine here, everything is just wet.

Funny story of the day:
I was on recess duty today. Two of the fifth grade girls decided they wanted to chat with me. So we were talking and they asked me where my favorite place in the world is. I told them, and then reciprocated the question. The one girl answered that her favorite place was Florida. To which I replied, "Oh, Florida! Did you know that is where Miss Abreu is from (another teacher at the school)".
And without skipping a beat, the girl goes, "Yeah, that's why she's so beechy." She was trying to say "beachy" but it came out sounding more like another, not very nice word. I love the lost in translation moments.
